Revenge Designs GTM-R @ 2009 Detroit Auto Show

An all-American super car actually built here in America.

Revenge Designs, a small Decatur, Ind.-based company, is building an all-American super car. Formerly known for performing performance modifications on Pontiacs, Revenge Designs unveiled the GTM-R super car at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The GTM-R was designed by Revenge owner Peter Collorafi. It uses a composite body and tube chassis built by kit-car maker Factory Five, and the General Motors LS7 V8 engine found in the Corvette Z06. Revenge says every part in the car is made in the United States.

Like in the Z06, the 7.0-liter V8 produces 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a Mendeola SDR Billet 5-speed sequential transaxle, and the company says a 6-speed sequential transaxle is optional.

Weighing in at 2,550 pounds, the GTM-R can leap from zero to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and top out at 180 mph, according to the companys marketing and promotions manager, Emily LeVault.

Underneath, the GTM-R features a remote-controlled air-ride adjustable suspension with three settings that affect suspension stiffness and ride height: high transportation, competition track, and low/anti-theft non-drivable.

The tubular A-arms are a Revenge design and the brakes feature 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers. Twenty-inch wheels are standard up front, with 22s in the rear, all wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Nero rubber.

Inside, the GTM-R has air conditioning, an OEM-style plastic dashboard with digital instruments, a touch-screen navigation system and a rear-view camera. An LCD screen provides information such as quarter-mile time and top speed recall, plus trip computer info.

The company says the dashboard is molded for maximum comfort and that drivers of most sizes should fit inside. A 4-point safety harness is standard, as is a 6-point integral roll cage.

The GMT-Rs exterior is typical of a super car. It sits low and wide and sports a tall carbon fiber rear spoiler (which can be deleted), as well as front air ducts and rear pillar induction scoops. The two-piece hood is power operated, and the taillights and turn signals have LEDs.

The GTM-R is currently available to the public for the tidy price of $145,000. The company says it hopes to sell 100 cars per year, and it can build more if there is enough demand.

Customers can order cars directly from the company. Special orders are welcomed, and the company will deliver each car to the customers home.
